About the Bonin Jewel Beetle

The Bonin jewel beetle is an endemic of the Ogasawara Islands with a brilliant metallic sheen of green and red. Adults are found in island woodland, and its larvae are thought to develop inside trees. It cannot survive if island forests are lost, and it is protected as a Natural Monument.
