About the Mikawa Clausiliid Snail (Mikawa-giseru)
The Mikawa-giseru is a land snail with a slender spiral shell, living only in a limited area of Nishio, Aichi Prefecture. It belongs to the clausiliid snails, named for a shell shaped like a traditional Japanese pipe. Because it is so localized, its habitat is protected.
