About the Japanese Macaque
The Japanese Macaque lives in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu and is known as the northernmost-living monkey in the world. It lives in troops and survives harsh winters in snowy regions. The Shimokita Peninsula is known as the northern limit of the species, and habitats such as Minoh and Takasakiyama are designated Natural Monuments.
