About the Holst's Frog

Holst's frog is a large frog found only in forests of northern Okinawa Island and a few nearby islands, among the biggest native frogs in Japan. Nocturnal, it hunts insects and other small prey in forest near streams. With a restricted range and sensitivity to forest development, it is protected as a Natural Monument.
